So You Want To Build Your Own Tiki Bar?
If you’ve been to a Polynesian island and spent any time on the beach you no doubt have some very fond memories of tiki bars.
So it would be quite understandable if you’d like to revive those memories by building your very own tiki bar in your backyard.
And why ever not? It’s not that hard to build a very convincing tiki bar in a relatively small amount of time if you have access to a few basic tools and materials, most of which can be obtained from any decent hardware store.
Buying a ready-made tiki bar can set you back a couple of thousand dollars so it’s no surprise that the diy route is very popular because building your own tiki bar won’t cost you anything like as much as this. You’ll certainly be very popular amongst your friends and family if you have your very own tiki bar to invite them to spend a pleasurable few hours in during evenings and weekends.
If you want to build your own tiki bar then your first decision is whether you want to build a good solid one that’s going to last for years or whether a less substantial more temporary tiki bar will fill your needs. Ok, what kinds of supplies are going to be needed in the construction of your tiki bar? You’re going to need straw, bamboo and plywood which you can get at building supply stores, gardening supply stores and animal feed outlets.
Once you’ve constructed the basic structure of your tiki bar you’ll have to decorate it in authentic Polynesian style. It just wouldn’t be a tiki bar if you didn’t, would it? You’ll probably be able to buy seashells from dollar shops or giftware outlets that
you can glue around the outside for that authentic beach look. You’ll also need to get at least a couple of South Sea Island tribal masks which you can probably find at New Age gift shops.
You’ll also need to add a few tropical plants to aid the ambience - you can find these at a good garden centre. Now that you’ve built your tiki bar you’ll need to make sure that you serve authentic fair to your guests.
You’ll be able to find plenty of good cocktail recipes on the Net. Don’t forget to cater to any non-drinkers by making some non-alcoholic tropical punch. If you really want to make your own tiki bar properly then you should have a look at this great source. Check it out by clicking this link.
